Jany Carolina VielmaCarolina finished her Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering at The University of Tulsa in August 2006. Her area of research interest is oil-water rheology and her thesis title is “Rheological Behavior of Oil-Water Dispersion Flow in Horizontal Pipes”. She will graduate in December 2006. Carolina is originally from Venezuela. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical and Systems Engineering from The University of Los Andes (ULA) in Merida, Venezuela, in 2000. She worked in the Research and Development Center of Venezuela’s Oil Company (PDVSA-INTEVEP) from 2000 to 2003. During that time she also took some courses in the Mechanical Engineering Masters Program in the Simon Bolivar University, in Caracas, Venezuela. In September 2003 she began the Masters program at the University of Tulsa. Since the beginning of her research, Carolina had strong interactions with Chevron and other petroleum companies that support TUSTP, which enable her to get internships with Chevron – ETC in Houston, Texas, during the summers of 2005 and 2006. Carolina is planning to join the TUSTP team again in fall 2007 to continue with her PhD. In the meantime, she will be working under her practical training in different multiphase-flow research projects for Multiphase Systems Integrations (MSI) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. e-mail: carolina@utulsa.edu
